Track layout with all 15 corners marked
At 585 metres above sea level, nestled in the Rila mountain range, A1 Motor Park is more than just Bulgaria’s first FIA Grade 3 circuit—it’s a technical masterpiece that rewards precision and punishes over-eagerness. To master these 3.91 kilometres, you need to understand the rhythm of its 15 turns.
The Three Sectors Breakdown
Sector 1: The Heavy Braking Zone
The lap starts with high intensity. Coming off the main straight, you face two demanding 180° hairpins (T1 & T2). Stability under hard braking is crucial here. If you miss your braking point by even a meter, you'll compromise the entire first sector.
Sector 2: The Heart (Turns 3 to 11)
This is where the circuit reveals its true character. Turn 5 (The Carousel) is the ultimate test. It requires very hard braking and a patient throttle application. Getting this right sets your pace for the mid-section. If you're too aggressive, you'll overheat your right-front tyre before you even reach the back straight.
Sector 3: The High-Speed Flow
After the massive 180° sweeper of Turn 11, the track flows into a technical finale. Turn 15 is the most important corner for your lap time—it’s all about exit speed to maximize your momentum onto the 900m main straight.
Professional Setup Tips
- Brakes: With four "Hard" or "Very Hard" braking zones (T1, T2, T5, T8), high-performance brake fluid and fresh racing pads are non-negotiable.
- Gearing: Most of the technical sections are conquered in 2nd and 3rd gear. Focus on a setup that offers strong torque exit from low-speed corners.
- Altitude Factor: At nearly 600m, the air is thinner. This affects both aerodynamic downforce and engine cooling. Keep a close eye on your oil and water temperatures during long sessions.
