GT3 at A1 Motor Park — AFB National Championship & Lap Battle Masters, April 18–19

The circuit opened in March. The first GT race weekend is April 18–19 — and it is bringing a different class of machinery entirely.

A1 Motor Park hosts the AFB National Championship Round and the Lap Battle Masters by Georgi Donchev on the same weekend. Ferrari GT3. McLaren GT3. Lamborghini GT3. Porsche. This is the same category of car that races at Le Mans and the Nürburgring 24 Hours — on a circuit that has been open for less than a month.

The Programme

18–19 April 2026 · A1 Motor Park, Samokov

AFB National Championship runs in two groups, forming Bulgaria's own track championship. This is structured racing — qualifying, race starts, official timing, results. Not a show run.

Lap Battle Masters by Georgi Donchev is a pure time attack format. Every driver against the clock. Individual laps, no racing room to hide in, maximum commitment on every corner. The stopwatch decides.

Open Pit sessions run throughout the weekend. Spectators can walk the pitlane, stand next to the cars, and see what a GT3 machine actually looks like up close. At most serious motorsport events this kind of access simply does not exist.

The Cars

GT3 is not a loose term. Ferrari 296 GT3, McLaren 720S GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 — these are purpose-built racing machines with full aerodynamic packages, sequential gearboxes, and racing slicks. They are not modified road cars. Seeing them in person at a circuit of this quality is something worth making the trip for.

Why This Weekend Matters

A1 Motor Park opened with BMW Cup and the BES 999 endurance race in early April. This weekend is the next chapter — and the arrival of GT3 machinery signals that the circuit is already attracting the level of event that people travel hours to watch.

Bulgaria has never had a circuit capable of hosting this class of competition. Now it does.
